Job Title: Senior Tax and Trust Executive

Location: Chichester

Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience and ability

Hours: Full-time, 9am to 5.15pm, Monday to Friday

An excellent and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Tax and Trust Executive to join our esteemed firm. This senior role encompasses extensive trust administration, accounting, and significant tax work, including the preparation of tax returns and associated compliance tasks.

Role Overview:

As a Senior Tax and Trust Executive, you will handle a variety of responsibilities involving trust and estate tax returns, personal tax returns, and client communication. This role includes both administrative and advisory duties and offers the chance to mentor junior staff members. You will be working closely with clients, HM Revenue & Customs, and third parties to ensure all compliance and deadlines are met.

Main Responsibilities:

Trust and Tax Compliance:

  • Prepare trust and estate tax returns, and personal tax returns, including related tax calculations using IRIS software.
  • Correspond with clients, HM Revenue & Customs, and third parties as required.
  • Monitor and adhere to deadlines related to trust and estate tax returns.

Trust Administration:

  • Prepare trust accounts.
  • Monitor deadlines for trusts and estates, such as ten-year charges and beneficial entitlements.
  • Handle day-to-day administration for clients.

Inheritance Tax:

  • Prepare inheritance tax returns for trusts and estates.

Advisory Work:

  • Provide ad hoc advisory services, such as advising on trust distributions.

Training and Mentoring:

  • Assist in training and mentoring junior staff members.
  • Carry out other tasks as required by the LLP.

Required Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • A suitable professional qualification (e.g., STEP, ATT, CTA - part qualified).
  • Significant experience (2+ years) in a private client or trust department in a client-facing role.
  • Ability to work accurately, prioritise tasks, and adhere to critical deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Proactive and ambitious, with a willingness to challenge in the best interest of the client.
  • IT literate, with experience using case management and tax software (ideally IRIS).
