Job Description

Our client based in Whitechapel is looking to recruit and experienced Software Development Manager to lead a technically strong team of software developers who are committed to working with the latest .Net and Web UI technologies within an Agile framework.



They are looking for a self starter, with a client centric outlook who enjoys working in a busy team. You'll need to be pretty organised and detail orientated in this job role as there is a lot to do and its a everchanging environment so there is always plenty to learn! A process and documentation orientated but pragmatic approach will be needed as will a high level of professionalism and willingness to demonstrate flexibility

The focus of this job role is to develop world class new products and services for the insurance industry whilst still supporting, and migrating away from, significant legacy systems. In this role you will be responsible for the performance of the software development team, maintaining high morale and managing day to day operations.

As the team manager you will also be responsible for driving innovative solutions to meet our evolving client needs.



The client needs the following skills and experience
" Sufficient experience in technical leadership position
" Extensive experience developing enterprise-grade software (.NET, SQL Server)
" Extensive experience with Agile/Scrum development methodology
" Experience with debugging, performance profiling and optimization
" Experience with source control management systems (Git) and continuous integration/deployment environments
" Comprehensive understanding of object-oriented and service-oriented application development techniques and theories
" Proficiency in hardware network and server issues - ability to understand, report issues and propose appropriate solutions.
" High level knowledge of databases and software architecture (preferably experience of .Net and software frameworks as well as familiarity and implementation of best practice).
" Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges
" Internally motivated, able to work proficiently both independently and in a team environment
" Strong and clear communication skills with both internal team members, colleagues and clients
" Experience in formal personal development planning and individual, team and process performance management
" Experience with managing offshore and/or blended team structures.
" Strong initiative to find ways to improve solutions, systems and processes
The following are other technologies and skills used in the company which though not fundamental requirements, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate evidence of knowledge and experience in many of these areas;

nHibernate or another ORM (Object Relational Mapping), NService Bus, AJAX, TeamCity, Octopus or other Continuous Integration tools, Angular JS, GIT or any other Source Control tools such as SVN or TFS, Test Automation and Load Testing, Federated Security and SSO approaches.
