Software Engineer, Python / C#
Cambridge

Brook Street is currently working on behalf of our Global IT Client to recruit a proficient Software Engineer, Python / C#

This is a contract role based in Cambridge until 30th June 2021 initially.

As a Brook Street contractor you will be entitled to 25 days holiday per annum, 8 days paid Bank Holidays pro rota and use of the onsite facilities.

Salary: Up to £65,000pa depending on experience

Job Description
This project involves developing a revolutionary new technique to store data in glass using femtosecond lasers and read it out using advanced optical imaging techniques.

This position is for a proficient software engineer who will have the opportunity to impact the design of this exciting new storage system by helping develop the software driving the system.

You will join an incredibly talented multi-disciplinary team of laser physicists, optical physicists, electronics engineers, and computer scientists working together in a tight-knit team to build this storage technology of the future.

You will be responsible for working on the systems controlling the laser write process.

Candidate Requirements
Proven in-depth knowledge and demonstrable experience of:
- Python, NumPy
- C#
- Multi-threaded coding

Able to work independently with minimal supervision towards defined tasks within a team environment.

Able to thrive in a highly agile environment where priorities and tasks change frequently.

Posses excellent software design and implementation skills.

The ideal person is a seasoned developer, able to work productively modifying an existing codebase, managing exotic hardware devices, occasionally in a multi-threaded context.

This project spans multiple disciplines, so the ability to communicate well with other team members and support overall team goals is crucial.

The role will require a high degree of ethics, dealing with very confidential information.
