Job Description

My client is an innovative provider of education and care for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

We`re currently looking for an experienced part-time Speech and Language Therapist in Cranborne, our service supports young people aged 16 - 25 with complex anxiety or mental health needs typically related to Asperger`s Syndrome, Autism and other conditions.

The Role
Working autonomously, you`ll manage a caseload of young people with complex needs within our beautiful special education setting.

Reporting in to our Head of Therapy; your role will be to provide a high standard of speech and language therapy assessment and intervention to our children and young people, as well as providing advice and training to parents, carers and professionals in line with their treatment plans.

You`ll lead in the assessment of our children and young people and recommend and deliver the best course of intervention and specialised programmes of care for each young person.

You will champion the promotion of a total communication environment across the service; modelling social communication techniques and best practice.

Additionally you`ll be responsible for setting targets; regularly monitoring and reviewing outcomes and modifying your approach as required.

Experience
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
o Registered membership of RCSLT and HCPC.
o A professional Speech and Language Therapy degree or equivalent.
o Previous experience of working as a Speech and Language Therapist.
o Experience in implementing a wide range of approaches in supporting young people with social communication difficulties.
o Experience of preparing complex reports.
o Ability to assess, devise and implement integrated therapy plans, based on identified needs.
o Ability to train staff in a variety of approaches.
o Ability to cope with working in an environment which can be stressful and unpredictable.
