Job Description

SQL Database Administrator
Nottingham NG5
Full Time - 37 Hours - (Between the hours of 8.00am - 5.00pm)
£19.32 per hour

We are currently recruiting for an interesting position for the Nottinghamshire Police
This Role is for 6-12 months initially with a possibility of Temp to Perm
The successful applicant will be required to go through the Police vetting process which could take 4-6 weeks.

Key responsibilities;

" Design and evolve the long-term strategy for database product usage in the production estate. Evaluate new releases as they are issued and incorporate their use and deployment into the strategy.
" Proactively monitor database activity, availability and performance to ensure optimal access to data, working with third party suppliers and Data Design functions where appropriate. Perform regular database maintenance and tuning to ensure continued optimal performance and resolving issues when they occur.
" Responsible for taking ownership of investigating and resolving complex technical issues, incidents and request where necessary liaising with other technical experts, application developers and third-party suppliers. Ensure that incidents progress and diagnostic information are fully recorded
" Ensure the backup and disaster recovery strategy is designed, tested and implemented in such a way to meets the Recovery Point Objective/Recovery Time Objective of the force business continuity plan.
" Working with the Data Architect/Designer to ensure successful transition to the production environment
" Applies and maintains specific procedures and security controls as required by organisational policy and local risk assessments to maintain confidentiality, integrity and availability of business information systems and infrastructure components. Abiding to rules such as Data Protection Act and GDPR.

Criteria;

" Knowledge and experience of managing SQL Server RDBMS, non RDBMS and object storage based systems environment on complex networks, including performance tuning and migration between versions of SQL Server
" Knowledge and experience of data architecture, modeling and analysis.
" Specific systems knowledge and experience must include an appropriate mix of skills from those listed below:
o Operations management of Microsoft SQL Server RDBMS databases (e.g. backup and restore procedures etc), plus use of r Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
o SQL SSIS, SSRS,
o Knowledge of Public Cloud PaaS and IaaS database architecture
" Experience with Installations, upgrades and patching of Databases Systems.
" Should be able to set monitoring services and systems in place
" Experience of working within an ITIL based organization

EDUCATION/QUALIFICATION
" Educated to degree (ideally in a computing or related subject) or have relevant experience
" Qualification such as Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (SQL Server) or 2-year equivalent experience
