Job Description

Support workers required for working in a learning disability home backed by complex needs, and physical disability, personal care involved heavily.

There is a need for the staff to have experience of working with individuals who have communication difficulties, some experience and/or knowledge of dementia, and some experience of working with some mild challenging behaviours (for which there are support strategies in place). There is also a need for staff to have experience of working with individuals who require palliative care.

Staff also provide additional care services such as peg feeding and there may also be other tasks or specialism's that are required dependent on the needs of the individuals at the service.

It is important that staff always work in a person-centred way and ensure choice and respect to individuals.

Staff need to be able to adapt and change to the needs of the individual(s) they are supporting so it is essential that staff have experience and training to be able to achieve this.

Staff are expected to provide services within the scheme as well as supporting the tenants outside of the service to complete various daily living tasks and social functions.

Location: Brentwood (CM14)
Hours: Full & part-time available, 20 to 37.5 hours per week
Salary: Competitive


You must have;

o Good communication both written and verbal, including the ability to communicate effectively with people with learning disabilities using a variety of methods to meet the needs of the individual.
o To have a good level of numeracy to assist the service user to manage their finances.
o The ability to work individually or as part of a team.
o To understand and adhere to safeguarding principles.
o To be honest, reliable, punctual, flexible and able to work shifts that includes weekends and public holidays
o To participate in staff meetings, training and other learning development opportunities
