Support Worker

Permanent Role
Location - Surbiton
Salary - £18,800

Role:
The people we work with want to be supported to do the things they want to do and to live the lives they choose. This role provides skilled support to help achieve this. This role also supports the mentoring, development and supervision of developing team members and assists with the smooth running and day-to-day management of the service. This could either be in our registered home, a supported living scheme, day opportunities, in the community or an education or employment setting.

Responsibilities:
Assist to develop and maintain a responsive support service to people with autism.
Ensure that support is provided in an effective, efficient and sustainable way resulting in outcomes in line with individuals` support plans.
Ensure people using the service are involved in selecting their support team.
Play a supporting role in the development and maintenance of excellent relations with people we support and their relatives and advocates.
Facilitate effective working relationships with other agencies who are involved in the lives of the people we support.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Driving license would be preferable but not essential
Good written and verbal communication skills
Good IT skills, particularly with Word, Excel and databases

EXPERIENCE:
Previous experience of working with people with disabilities, including autistic spectrum disorders
Previous experience of prioritising and organising own workload
Previous experience of supervising staff is desirable

ESSENTIAL:
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
Knowledge of relevant legislative framework/regulatory requirements
An understanding of the rights of the people we support and the duties of staff within individuals homes
