Support Worker
Learning Disabilities and Autism
Days or Nights
Leading charity

Shift patterns: Early - 7.45-14.45.45 Late - 14.45-21.45 Night - 21.45 - 07.45
Staff either work days or nights.
Salary: £9.28 (Days and Nights) with £1 increase during weekends and bank holidays
Hours: 36.25 per week full time but we are flexible and would consider part time applications

This service is set in beautiful landscape grounds. It compromises four houses and a flat on one site, and two four-bedroom community houses, providing support and accommodation for 25 adults, aged over 18, who have been diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, or have autistic tendencies. Also supporting individuals with challenging behaviours and those with epilepsy.

The Role:
As a Support Worker, you will be providing personalised care to young adults who are on the autism spectrum and have learning disabilities. You will act as their advocate and ensuring that we meet the high standards we believe in. You will be supporting people to carry out activities that they enjoy as well as trying new things to expand their horizons. This could be shopping, cooking, art, walking, fishing, cinema, gym, swimming, socialising, gardening, sports… the list is endless. The job can have its challenges, but always outweighing those are the rewards of knowing you are helping improve things for others.

Main duties will include:
Supporting people with their daily routines, aiming for them to achieve a high standard of personal hygiene at all times.
Bring to life people's support and risk management plans, making sure we meet people's needs and help individuals to realise their aspirations
Support people to attend and actively participate in activities and social outings.

Skills/experience required:
Previous experience of working within a health and social care environment is a bonus but not essential as full training and an induction are provided
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) -Ability to empathise
Good IT skills -Time management
Ability to prioritise own workload -Patience and resilience
