Job Description

This role is based in Reading/Remote working - 35hr week with 30 days holiday and excellent benefits including pension, health ins, career development opportunities etc., Hybrid working environment, strong stakeholder engagement experience.

The Technology Solutions Business Analyst will be an advocate for technology and partner across all areas of the Company to encourage and influence the wider use of technology to move the Company towards being a digital organisation.

This role will undertake mainly business analysis activities to translate business need into technology solutions, with involvement through all project phases. It will work across prospective and current programmes as well as across our corporate services, interacting with various forums to evaluate and prioritise business needs.

The Technology Solutions Business Analyst will also support the wider development of the Global IT team processes that will deliver a Global IT framework for applications, operations, Infrastructure, and security.

Job objectives:

  1. Engage with all areas of the Company with a Business Partner mindset. This will involve understanding the business dynamics and undertaking activities to inform the business about the 'The art of the possible'. You will use this deep understanding to model and deploy technology solutions (in partnership with other areas of the organisation and external suppliers) to digitally enable the Company to deliver its vision.
  1. Understand the 'Value for Money' factors that drive our contracts with Clients. Any technology solution proposed will need to be appropriate and provide the best return on investment. This is a key element of the role and will require lateral thinking.
  1. Undertake business analysis activities, including challenging existing processes, to derive the business requirements and convert these into technology requirements. Engage with a range of suppliers to determine the best approach for delivering these requirements.
  1. Work with project managers, other technology staff and third parties to implement the technology solutions that have been identified.
  1. Look externally to research leading edge technology innovation and seek opportunities to bring this into the Company Provide advice and guidance on this innovation to the business, other IT staff and business partners within the Company
  1. Undertake any other duties and support to the team as directed by the Global Technology Solutions Manager.

Scope:

The post holder has contact with Managers, Senior Managers and Directors across the organisation and is responsible for building and maintaining excellent relationships with internal customers and as needed with external clients.

The scope and influence of the work of the Technology Solutions team is global and across all areas of the Company. The post-holder may need to work for limited periods of time in other locations.

Person specification:

Knowledge

Essential:

▪ Qualified to degree level in a related subject, hold a Business Analysis certificate, or demonstrate thorough experience at an appropriate level of knowledge

▪ Excellent knowledge of analysis methodologies, including process mapping

▪ An understanding of software development tools, testing methodologies, application and database performance, web services technologies

Desirable:

▪ Good knowledge of supporting Microsoft Office 365, and other common software packages e.g., CRM and ERP

▪ Development of web-based application solutions

▪ Awareness of digital design standards and accessibility guidelines

Prince 2 Practitioner level qualified or similar

Experience

Essential:

▪ Experience of planning and facilitating workshops using a range of methodologies to engage with business users and gather requirements
