Therapeutic Parent (Children's Residential Support worker)

Manchester and Bury

40 hours a week

16500-19000


A fantastic opportunity has arisen to support children in a residential home as they undergo a therapeutic programme. The children are aged between 4 and 12 years of age and have experienced some form of trauma, this could be in the form of CSE (child sexual exploitation) or leaving care countless times or have some form of EBD (Emotional behavioural disorder). This is a very challenging but rewarding job as you would be playing a vital role in re-parenting the children and helping them feel loved, supported and cared for. There are vacancies in services in Manchester and Bury.

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is resilient and has proven experience in working within a children's residential home or children's services. No two days will be the same as you look to help the children develop. You will be providing for their emotional, social, educational and cultural needs this could be in the form of key-worker sessions or encouraging participation in mainstream schooling or helping with homework or playing games with them!

You will be working closely with the senior therapeutic parents and under their supervision to deliver individual and tailored psychological programmes. You will need to be able to liaise with different services and communicate well with the children and staff alike. Due to the nature of this role we are looking for someone who has proven experience in working in children's residential settings and you must have both a level 3 in children's and young peoples workforce and a driving licence with access to your own vehicle! You will need to be able to report write and be proficient with IT systems. You must be proactive and be able to problem solve effectively and be calm when under pressure.
