Brook Street has been chosen as a recruitment partner to hire temporary admin and clerical workers for central government departments across the UK - giving you the chance to gain credible experience in the public sector.
Day to day, you will carry out basic operating procedures on an automated sorting machine including basic routine maintenance and cleaning of the equipment. You will also need to undertake road service duties including scheduled routes to Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, Brize Norton airfield and a range other designated sites, ensuring our mail keeps moving. This may also involve Loading and unloading mail from containers, vehicles or other transport mediums.

As a day shift Mail Operator, you will be required to work 8.0 hours per day between 06:00 -15:00 hours, Monday to Thursday and 7.5 hours on Friday's 06:00-14:30, though some additional hours or flexible working will be expected to meet road service schedule. The exact duty timings will be discussed at interview.
To be successful in the role, you will have:

o Relevant postal service and/or warehouse experience.
o Be physically fit and be prepared to be walking or standing for the majority of the shift.
o The ability to lift mail items up to 11kg's unaided and 30kg's aided, working in a warehouse environment including a large vaulted area with processing space requiring PPE (which must be worn at all times).
o A hard-working, focused and practical approach to your work that keeps you safe, and our customer's mail secure and moving rapidly.
