Workshop Manager (Automotive)
Inverness
37.5hrs, salary based on experience

A multi-award winning automotive business on the outskirts of Inverness is seeking a Workshop Manager to be responsible for the smooth running of the approved workshop.

Reporting to the Director, you will

Maximise profitability and commercial opportunities from the workshop department, ensuring that it is financially viable and a positive contributor to HCV operations.
Line manage the workshop team, conducting regular appraisals, providing support, motivation and training.
Manage training and development plans for the workshop team, identifying skills shortages and enabling training to be undertaken if needed.
recruit and plan staffing with succession planning considerations.
Manage the Health and Safety responsibility for the workshop department including staff training on tools and equipment used within the workshop department, to ensure all HSE requirements are being met at all times.
Ensure COSHH records are maintained along with risk assessments, and ensure implementation of any remedial actions required are undertaken as a priority.
Provide complete budgetary canto for all workshop seaside, ordering tools and equipment as needed to ensure safe operations.
Undertake quality control processes and continuous improvement practices, to enable the workshop to operate efficiently.
Maintain networking relationships with other workshops within the area who may be able to provide additional support or expertise.
Co-ordinate the annual National Caravan Council Approved Workshop Scheme audit and ensure tools and calibration certificates are maintained and recorded.
Identify opportunities to market and promote the company`s workshop services.
Identify opportunities for product promotion and liaise with the sales manager to enable promotions to customers.
Assist with and attend trade shows/exhibitions.
Identify and implement opportunities to improve the company`s procedures.
Assist the company in working towards/achieving external accreditation and quality awards.
Be available for emergency call out situations with the workshop team or wider business support.
Support the Director and other colleagues as required, ensuring that the workshop team is growing alongside the wider business operations, identifying opportunities to improve workshop facilities and plans for the future.
It is ESSENTIAL you have experience of a busy workshop environment, excellent customer service skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, an understanding of H&S, and COSHH regulations, are confident, outgoing and possess a friendly telephone manner. You MUST be competent in the use of Microsoft Office applications, good at prioritising your workload and have the ability to remain calm under pressure as high season the workshop faces a backlog of work. Be of the nature to be able to embrace change and be committed to personal development and have a good attention to detail.


This is a full-time position based on 37.5 hours over 5 days (Monday to Saturday)
