Young Adults Support Worker (Drivers ONLY)

Job Description

An established growing Children and young people services are now recruiting for Support Workers for their residential, supportive living services in Exeter, Devon and Taunton, Somerset. You will be supporting children & young people (16 - 25 years olds) who are leaving the care system or need additional support to remain independent. You will work with people who come from neglected backgrounds, sexual exploitation and other traumatic situations who may have mental health, anti-social behaviour, ex/offenders and EBD so they will display verbal challenging behaviour.

Main Job Role:
- Guide and support them with everyday duties such as managing their tenancy, claiming benefits, job-hunting, help with alternative education etc
- Support them out and about in the community & engage with activities
- Non restraint as more verbal challenging behaviour
- Some clients with be on probation, just come out or prison or waiting on a court date / sentencing
- Once you are put on shift, you will know which unit you will do most of your work in (Exeter or Taunton)
- Peripatetic role which means to move around so you`ll have to be prepared to travel to different locations
- Some aspects of personal care (more prompting)

Qualifying candidates:
- MUST have previous experience in similar role / field with 12 - 20 year olds
- You will need a driving license with your own car
- You will be required to add Business insurance to your insurance

Contract / Terms:
- Salary with sleepins is £18,000 - £25,000 per annum
- You will work 10 shifts per month (24.5 hour shifts)
- Shift patterns will be 9am - 11pm (sleep) 7am - 9:30am
- You will work 2 shifts on and 4 days off
- Mileage for any personal mileage (while working) is paid at 25p per mile
