Job Description
Our Public sector client is recruiting for a Assistant Commercial Manager (HEO) to join their team on a temporary basis. This is currently a temporary role until January 2026 but there may be a chance of an extension. This is a full-time role, 37 hours per week. There will be flexibility with the working hours, depending on business needs but the team usually works around 8:30 - 4:30/9-5. The pay rate for this role is £14.16 per hour, rising to £17.68 at week 12. Payment is on a weekly basis.
This will be a hybrid position. The client is happy for a suitable candidate to be located wherever in the UK but occasional travel to Leeds would be required. Team meetings are arranged often, and IT would need collecting from the Leeds office.
As an assistant commercial manager, you will be reporting into the commercial manager. At the moment the client is unsure exactly which contract you will be responsible for but the day-to-day duties will be similar. These will include but won't be restricted to:
- Communicating with internal/external stakeholders
- Building strong relationships with business managers
- Developing the bidders' packs including reviewing and clarifying the specification, drafting appropriate tools and considering optimal pricing and incentivisation mechanisms for simple low value purchases and procurement
- Leading and managing the end to end tendering process
- Debriefing unsuccessful suppliers
- Applying a strong visual project management approach to procurement projects
- Identifying and communicating perceived and relevant areas of risk (to include cyber, personnel and physical risks) and gaining agreement on how best to manage/mitigate
- Using cost models and associated commercial and security concepts
- Decision making
The ideal candidate for this role will have strong contract management experience. Support and training will be provided but the client is looking for an all rounder who is able to hit the ground running and use their initiative/able to manage their own workload.
If successful, you will be subject to a Basic DBS check and 3 years referencing. Due to a high volume of responses, unfortunately we cannot always get back to everyone.
Brook Street is proud to support the Armed Forces Covenant and as such, we guarantee to interview all candidates who are veterans or spouses/partners of military personnel, and who meet all the essential criteria for the vacancy.
As a Disability Confident Leader, and holder of the Gold Award status from the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, Brook Street, as a supplier to the Public Sector Resourcing Framework (PSR), will offer you a guaranteed interview with a PSR Sourcer.
Should you identify as a candidate with a disability and/or as a veteran or spouse/partner of military personnel and meet all the essential criteria for the role, we encourage you to reach out to us via the Brook Street website. Here you will find a link to register your interest and state the role that you are interested in. We are committed to engaging with you.
In cases where we have a high volume of ex-military candidates/military spouses/partners, who meet all of the essential criteria, Brook Street will interview the best candidates from within that group.
