Job description

Refuge Manager - Domestic Abuse Services
Location: Leicester
Salary: Circa £30,800 per annum
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start Date: ASAP

I am proud to have partnered with a respected charity to recruit a dedicated Refuge Manager for a 24-hour domestic abuse refuge in Leicester. This vital service provides safety, stability, and support to women and children escaping domestic violence.

This is a fabulous opportunity to lead a committed team within a non-profit organisation that champions the rights and recovery of survivors. If you're an experienced professional with a strong background in care or social welfare, this role offers the chance to make a lasting impact.

What You'll Be Doing

As Refuge Manager, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day operations of the refuge, ensuring high standards of care and service delivery. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing staff rotas, performance, and development
  • Overseeing budgets and financial processes
  • Recruiting, training, and supporting staff
  • Assisting residents with housing and benefit applications
  • Maintaining accurate records and using internal systems effectively
  • Representing the service through presentations and stakeholder engagement
  • Building partnerships with local authorities, community groups, and other organisations

What We're Looking For

We're seeking a compassionate and capable leader who meets the following criteria:

  • Relevant qualification or equivalent experience supporting vulnerable groups, particularly women, children, and survivors of domestic abuse
  • Minimum of three years' experience in a care or social welfare setting
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Fluency in English and at least one main BAME language
  • Flexibility to work unsociable hours when required
  • Excellent administrative and organisational skills
  • Ability to interpret and counsel effectively
  • Understanding of multi-agency working across statutory and voluntary sectors
  • Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle, and business insurance
  • Clear Enhanced DBS check

Why Apply?

This is more than a management role - it's a chance to lead a service that transforms lives. You'll be part of a passionate team working within a values-driven charity, with the autonomy to shape service delivery and support those who need it most.
