Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager - Belfast
Salary: Circa £40,000 + Pension | Health & Wellbeing Programme | Life Insurance | On-site Parking
Brook Street Recruitment is proud to partner with our Belfast-based client to recruit an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in shaping and embedding a proactive safety culture across the organisation.
Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll work closely with the Senior Management Team and external EHS advisors to ensure full compliance with UK legislation, ISO standards, and best practice. This is a hands-on, influential role where you'll develop policies, deliver training, and drive continuous improvement to protect people, operations, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies to ensure compliance and promote a positive safety culture.
Conduct risk assessments, identify hazards, and implement effective control measures.
Lead investigations into incidents and near misses, providing reports and recommendations for improvement.
Deliver engaging Health & Safety training programmes across all levels of the business.
Liaise with external advisors and regulatory bodies to maintain compliance and stay ahead of legislative updates.
Plan and conduct internal audits, ensuring continuous improvement in EHS performance.
Develop and test emergency response plans, including fire drills and spill control.
Monitor EHS KPIs, analyse trends, and implement corrective actions.
Support sustainability initiatives such as waste reduction, carbon monitoring, and energy efficiency.
Ensure contractor and supplier compliance with site EHS standards.
Essential:
Minimum 3 years' experience in a Health & Safety management role.
NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent).
Qualified First Aider and Fire Safety/Warden trained.
Strong leadership, communication, and team motivation skills.
Proven ability to deliver EHS training and influence a positive culture.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Desirable:
Experience with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 systems.
NEBOSH Environmental Certificate or higher (Diploma/NVQ Level 6).
Experience in logistics or transport industries.
"Train the Trainer" or Internal Auditor qualifications.
Mental Health First Aider certification.
