Belfast City Hospital is looking for a friendly and reliable Band 3 Clerical Officer/ Receptionist to be the face of our service and deliver excellent care from the very first hello.


About the Role

  • Welcome and register patients, families, and visitors, ensuring everyone receives a warm, helpful, and professional service.
  • Manage face-to-face, telephone, and email enquiries efficiently, providing information and direction as needed.
  • Maintain patient records accurately and confidentially on electronic systems, upholding trust standards and data protection policies.
  • Support the clinical team with administrative tasks-booking follow-up appointments, coordinating patient transport, and relaying important messages.

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills.
  • Professional and compassionate approach-especially when supporting people in difficult or sensitive circumstances.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment and to prioritise tasks independently.
  • IT competence and keen attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare setting is desirable, but not essential-full training will be provided.
