Customer Service Officer - Valuation Office Agency (VOA)

📍 Location: Durham (Hybrid after training)
🕒 Hours: Full-time, 08:45 - 16:45, Monday to Friday
💼 Contract: Temporary until 31st March 2026 (with potential for extension)
💰 Pay Rate: £14.47 per hour

About the Role

Brook Street are excited to be recruiting Customer Service Officers on behalf of the Valuation Office Agency (VOA), part of HMRC. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy and supportive team, delivering vital customer service to the public.

As a Customer Service Officer, you'll be the first point of contact for customers - mainly handling inbound telephone enquiries, as well as supporting teams with data entry and administrative tasks. The role is varied, fast-paced, and offers a great opportunity to build valuable experience in a government environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle incoming calls from customers in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Provide accurate information and resolve queries confidently.
  • Carry out administrative and data processing tasks to support the wider team.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure a high level of attention to detail.
  • Work collaboratively within a supportive, customer-focused team.

Working Hours and Pattern

  • Full-time only - 08:45 to 16:45, Monday to Friday.
  • Initial training: 5-6 weeks full-time, in-office in Durham.
  • Part-time or compressed hours: Not available.
  • Hybrid working: Offered after successful completion of training and satisfactory performance (typically 3 days in the office, 2 days from home).
