Head of Geography
Location: Newham, London
Permanent | Full Time
Start Date: April or September 2026
Salary: £40,653 - £62,774 per annum (depending on experience)
(Academy Classroom Teacher / Senior Classroom Teacher Scale + Academy TLA1a £10,400 p.a.)


We are looking for an outstanding Head of Geography to join a high-performing, ambitious secondary school in Newham, London.


This is an exciting opportunity for either:

  • An experienced Geography teacher ready to step into subject leadership, or
  • An established Head of Geography seeking a fresh challenge.

The Role
As Head of Geography, you will provide strategic leadership for the department, ensuring consistently high standards of teaching and learning across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will lead curriculum development, set ambitious expectations, and support colleagues to deliver engaging lessons that enable all students to achieve their potential.
You will build on the department's existing strengths and drive improvements in student outcomes, ensuring learners develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive academically and personally.
