Job Description
Job Specification: Experienced Quantity Surveyor
Location: Derry/ Londonderry
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Reporting to: Commercial Manager/Director
Brook Street Recruitment is working with our client in Derry/ Londonderry who are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the full range of pre and post-contract quantity surveying duties, with a focus on maximising project commercial performance while minimising risks. The role involves working autonomously and leading on large-scale construction projects from inception to final account settlement.
Key Responsibilities
Cost Management and Financial Reporting
Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities based on architectural and engineering drawings.
Conduct comprehensive cost analysis for new build, refurbishment, and maintenance projects.
Monitor and control project costs and expenditures to ensure budget compliance and provide financial forecasts.
Produce regular, detailed cost reports and Cost Value Reconciliations for senior management and clients.
Procurement and Tendering
Manage the procurement process, including drafting tender documents, evaluating bids, and awarding subcontracts.
Negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to secure the best rates for materials, labour, and equipment.
Advise on procurement strategies to ensure optimal value for money.
Skills and Qualifications
A proven track record of successfully managing the procurement for commercial construction
A BSc in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline is typically required.
Technical Skills:
Strong numerical and analytic skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Proficiency with cost management software and Microsoft Excel.
In-depth knowledge of different forms of construction contracts (JCT, NEC).
Solid understanding of construction technology, methods, and processes.
Commercial Skills:
Excellent negotiation and dispute-resolution skills.
Strong commercial and financial awareness.
Proficiency in financial analysis, including forecasting and cash-flow management.
Personal Attributes:
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Strong leadership, mentoring, and people management skills.
A practical, logical, and methodical approach to problem-solving.
Salary is negotiable based on experience
