Deputy Manager - Children's Residential Home
Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset (BS23)
Salary: £36,036 per annum (£18.48 per hour)
Sleep-in rate: £70 per shift (additional to salary)
On-call allowance: £50 per shift (£75 if Level 5 qualified)
About the Role
We are recruiting for an experienced Deputy Manager to join a children's residential home in Weston-Super-Mare.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a strong Senior or existing Deputy Manager to step into a leadership role within a supportive and nurturing environment, working with young people aged 8-18 with complex needs and behaviours.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager to ensure the home delivers high-quality, safe and Ofsted-compliant care, while supporting and developing the staff team.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of the home
- Lead shifts and supervise staff to ensure safe and effective care delivery
- Promote safeguarding and ensure the welfare of all young people
- Support care planning, reviews, and regulatory compliance
- Contribute to achieving and maintaining GOOD or above Ofsted ratings
- Act as the lead in the absence of the Registered Manager
- Support staff through supervision, mentoring, and development
- Build strong relationships with external professionals and families
Shift Pattern & Working Structure
- Long day / sleep-in model
- 10:00am - 10:30am the following day (with sleep-in)
- Staff typically off duty by 11:00pm (overtime paid if exceeded)
- Minimum 1 office-based shift per week (more depending on service needs)
- Includes weekends and sleep-ins
- Participation in on-call rota (weekdays & weekends)
Sleep-in earnings (approx. per annum):
- 9 sleeps = £8,190
- 8 sleeps = £7,280
- 7 sleeps = £6,370
Requirements
Essential:
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare
- Level 5 in Leadership & Management (or working towards)
- Experience within children's residential care
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and Ofsted regulations
- Ability to lead shifts and manage staff effectively
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable:
- Previous Deputy Manager or Senior experience
- Experience supporting children with complex behaviours
