Job Advertisement - Court Usher (2 Positions Available)
Location: The Shirehall, Worcester (with occasional travel to Hereford & Redditch satellite courts, travel expenses paid)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary, with strong likelihood of extension
Working Pattern: Fully onsite
Clearance: Enhanced DBS (required)
Pay: Minimum wage, rising to £13.25 per hour after 12 weeks
Join Us as a Court Usher
We're looking for two enthusiastic and confident individuals to join the team as Court Ushers, helping ensure the smooth running of court hearings and providing professional support to all court users. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the justice system in a vital public facing role.

Key Responsibilities
As a Court Usher, you will be responsible for:
- Providing face to face customer service and acting as the first point of contact for all court users, including judiciary, legal representatives and members of the public.
- Liaising confidently and professionally with everyone arriving at the court.
- Facilitating the smooth operation of the courtroom and ensuring proceedings run correctly and efficiently.
- Overseeing everything from the moment someone enters the courtroom to the moment they leave.
- Supporting the facilitation of hearings and always maintaining proper court etiquette.
- Making clear and confident public announcements within the courtroom and wider public areas (public forum environment).
- Performing general administrative duties such as data input, checking documentation, and filing.

- Confident and comfortable speaking in public.
- Professional, calm and able to work with a wide range of people.
- Friendly, approachable and committed to excellent customer service.
- Reliable, organised and able to follow procedures carefully.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Willing to travel occasionally to Hereford and Redditch as needed (travel expenses covered).
Additional Information
- This role is fully onsite at the Worcester court.
- Travel to Hereford and Redditch satellite courts may be required (travel reimbursed).
- An Enhanced DBS is required before starting but will be provided.
- Full training will be provided.
