Purpose of the Role:
Brook Street Social Care is looking for a dedicated Project Worker to support individuals experiencing homelessness. This role focuses on delivering short-term, person-centred support to single men and women aged 18-65 as they move through our Preston-based service.

You will play a key role in empowering residents to achieve independence by contributing to tailored support plans, promoting positive engagement, and encouraging involvement within the community. The position involves lone working at times.

Reporting and Key Relationships:

  • Reports to: Project Manager

  • Responsible for: Residents within the service

  • Works closely with: Project Manager, residents, and wider support networks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver daily support to residents, ensuring their individual needs are met

  • Assist with assessing needs at referral stage and help residents access relevant services such as healthcare, benefits, and housing

  • Support residents in maximising their income, including housing benefit, and maintain accurate financial records

  • Contribute to resettlement plans, helping residents transition into independent living

  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate records using internal systems

  • Empower residents to make informed decisions, manage risks, and address behaviours that may impact themselves or others

  • Provide practical guidance on a range of issues including benefits, health, substance use, housing, education, and life skills

  • Build positive, trusting relationships with residents

  • Encourage participation in community activities, education, and wellbeing opportunities

  • Develop and maintain effective partnerships with local agencies and support services

  • Report any incidents or emergencies promptly to management

  • Assist with the general running of the service, including cleaning, cooking, and basic maintenance

  • Provide cover for shifts as required, including early or late hours

  • Attend team meetings, resident meetings, training sessions, and supervision

  • Work flexibly as part of a rota-based team, including occasional out-of-hours work

  • Follow all organisational policies and procedures
