Seaham Area
£50,269 - £54,495 (dependent on experience)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Children's Registered Manager to lead a specialist short-break residential service for children and young people aged 5-17.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a service focused on preventing children from entering care by delivering high-quality, planned short breaks and intensive family support. The home provides a safe, nurturing environment where children and young people can build resilience, develop strategies, and strengthen family relationships during times of crisis.

As Registered Manager, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and embedding a forward-thinking model of support that focuses on keeping families together wherever possible.

About the Service
The service provides planned short breaks for children and young people who may otherwise be at risk of entering care. Alongside residential support, families receive tailored outreach interventions to strengthen relationships and promote long-term stability at home.
The service works collaboratively with wider family support teams to deliver a holistic "Keeping Families Together" approach - reflecting a commitment to positive, strengths-based language and practice that empowers families rather than labels them.
Children and young people receive structured, focused support guided by vision planning approaches, helping them and their families reconnect with positive experiences and build sustainable strategies for the future.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strong leadership and operational oversight of the children's home
  • Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations and Children's Homes legislation
  • Lead, motivate and develop a high-performing staff team
  • Embed safeguarding excellence and therapeutic, child-centred practice
  • Work in partnership with families, social workers, and internal services
  • Drive continuous improvement and high standards of care
  • Oversee care planning, risk management, and quality assurance processes
  • Manage budgets and resources effectively

About You
We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager who:

  • Has significant experience in children's residential care
  • Demonstrates strong knowledge of safeguarding and regulatory frameworks
  • Is passionate about preventing family breakdown and supporting children to remain at home wherever safe and possible
  • Can lead with compassion, resilience, and accountability
  • Holds (or is working towards) Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare
  • Has previous experience of Ofsted registration and inspection processes

Rewards & Benefits

  • Competitive salary up to £54,495
  • £2,500 temporary recruitment and retention allowance
  • £3,500 temporary market supplement (paid monthly)
  • Comprehensive rewards and benefits package
  • Opportunity to lead an innovative, preventative service model
  • Ongoing professional development and leadership support

If you are an experienced Children's Registered Manager ready to lead a service that truly focuses on keeping families together, we would love to hear from you.
