About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an Admin Officer to join the Court of Protection within HMCTS. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain experience within the justice system, supporting the smooth running of court and tribunal services.

Administrative Officers play a vital role in ensuring cases progress efficiently while delivering a high standard of customer service to court users, judiciary members, and legal professionals.


Key Responsibilities

Administration

  • Preparing files and documents for court hearings and meetings
  • Producing court documentation and maintaining accurate records
  • Data entry and updating internal systems
  • Managing post, filing, and photocopying
  • Organising meeting rooms, training sessions, and team activities

Operations

  • Supporting court hearings (clerking duties where required)
  • Handling face-to-face, telephone, and written enquiries
  • Assisting court users and managing case schedules
  • Liaising with internal and external stakeholders

Casework & Processing

  • Processing court orders, claims, fines, and legal documentation
  • Ensuring accuracy and meeting workload targets
  • Checking and verifying documents in line with procedures

Communication

  • Delivering excellent customer service to all court users
  • Working closely with judiciary, legal professionals, and colleagues
  • Providing clear guidance on court processes and documentation

Skills & Experience Required

  • Strong administrative experience or NVQ Level II in Business Administration (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A*-C / equivalent)
  • Good IT skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, structured environment
