Job description

Our client is looking for a motivated and organised Assistant Payroll and Accounts Officer to join their finance team based in Cardiff. This role offers the opportunity to support payroll processing and contribute to finance operations within a collaborative environment.

Job Overview

You will play a key role in managing the payroll for pensioners, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all statutory requirements. You will also support general financial activities, helping the finance team maintain smooth and efficient operations.

Main Duties

  • Manage and execute payroll functions for pensioner accounts, ensuring accuracy and meeting deadlines.

  • Maintain detailed payroll records and update systems with new information such as new pensioners or deductions.

  • Prepare and submit necessary compliance reports and statutory documents promptly.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll queries from pensioners, handling enquiries professionally and efficiently.

  • Collaborate with internal teams and external bodies, such as auditors and government agencies, to resolve payroll-related issues.

  • Assist with miscellaneous finance tasks including invoice processing and bank account management.

  • Uphold company policies and legal standards related to data security and payroll processes.

  • Commit to ongoing professional development and training relevant to the role.

Candidate Profile

  • Prior experience or familiarity with payroll systems is preferred but not essential.

  • Basic understanding of payroll concepts and statutory requirements is advantageous.

  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

  • Proactive, reliable, and able to work well both independently and as part of a team.

  • Strong communication skills with a professional and approachable manner.

  • Flexible and eager to learn.
