📢 Job Opportunity: Diary Manager & Business Support - DEFRA

Location: Hybrid - Homebased with occasional travel to 2 Marsham Street, London, SW1P 4DF
Pay Rate: £17.27 per hour
Contract: 2-month temporary contract (potential to extend, not guaranteed)


About the Role

We are currently seeking a highly organised Diary Manager & Business Support Officer to join the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA). This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator to provide professional support at a senior level within a fast-paced and high-profile environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the Deputy Director's diary, including scheduling meetings, collating papers, arranging room bookings, and managing visitor passes.

  • Provide proactive inbox management, including delegating actions, flagging priorities, and tracking deadlines.

  • Communicate effectively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.

  • Provide general administrative and organisational support, including briefing packs, travel arrangements, and event coordination.

  • Support larger meetings, workshops, and events for G6 colleagues, handling logistics and materials.

  • Ensure smooth team operations, including maintaining induction materials and supporting colleagues when required.

  • Work collaboratively across DEFRA to ensure the Deputy Director is fully informed of key issues.

  • Provide flexible support to the Director/Deputy Director as needed.


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience supporting a senior manager or head of a large organisation.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Outlook and collaborative tools.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.

  • Strong team player, able to work collaboratively and provide support to colleagues when required.
