Brook Street Recruitment is working on behalf of our Belfast legal / solicitor client who are currently recruiting for a full time and permanent Book Keeper/ Accountant
Working closely with the Partners of the firm, you will be responsible for assisting with the smooth day-to-day running of a busy solicitor's firm's finance department.
Applicants are preferred to have worked in a legal setting but not essential as other bookkeepers / accountants will also be considered - the ideal candidate will have a good understanding of invoicing, finance, book-keeping.
Duties
- Ensuring all finance records are up to date & accurate on the firm's finance system
- Reconciling bank statements
- Accurate and timely processing and recording of incoming and outgoing payments
- Receiving customer payments in person and over the telephone
- Liaising with suppliers and payment of supplier invoices
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns via legal accounts software
- Checking & posting bills & invoices
- Liaising with the firm's accountant to assist in their preparation of statutory returns
Criteria:
- Previous experience within a bookkeeping/ accounts based role is 100% essential
- Good grasp of basic accounting standards and financial processes
- Good communicator with the ability to work well in a team
