Job description

Residential Support Worker (Secure Children's Home) - Sheffield

Essential requirements: You must have the legal right to work in the UK. Sponsorship is NOT available. Enhanced DBS required. Shift, weekend and sleep‑in availability essential.

  • Location: Sheffield
  • Contract: Permanent, full‑time (37 hrs; shifts, weekends, sleep‑ins)
  • Salary: £29,093 per annum + allowances

Make a real impact supporting vulnerable young people in a secure residential setting. You'll provide consistent, child‑centred care and help young people on remand or serving custodial sentences to feel safe, supported and motivated.

What you'll do

  • Deliver high‑quality, trauma‑informed care within a secure environment.
  • Build positive relationships; provide 1:1 and group support.
  • Contribute to care planning, safeguarding and risk management.
  • Promote education, leisure and behavioural development.
  • Work collaboratively in a 24/7 multi‑disciplinary team.

What we're looking for

  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to achieve within 2 years).
  • Experience in residential childcare, youth justice, SEN/SEMH, secure services or supporting vulnerable children/young people; strong transferable care/education/health skills considered.
  • Excellent communication, emotional resilience and teamworking; able to work a rota including sleep‑ins.
